Unperforated coil shelters |
Unperforated coil shelters protect the main shoot against debarking and fraying. They are especially recommended for Spruce, Fir and Douglas Fir.
They may be also used to protect deciduous young trees against debarking and fraying. One of the protection methods is to cut the spiral into 10-15 cm pieces and place on its 2-3 coils at mid-length, just below the apical bud or attach a longer piece similarly in two places.
To avoid deformation of growing shoots and inhibited growth of buds, seedlings should be observed and coils moved whenever necessary.
